happy halloween

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween – especially my family and friends in Long Beach Island, NJ who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy – that awful witch!  Many on the East Coast have been severely affected by the storm and are left with damaged homes, businesses, and lots of work to do before their lives can return to normal.  Every little bit helps and if you would like to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, you can donate to the American Red Cross here.

hipster halloweenie

So the other night I was trying to decide on a Halloween costume for this year and since I can’t easily transform myself into Beyonce, I had to choose something else.  This year I decided to be a “hipster.”  My boyfriend got jealous of my idea so now we are being a “hipster couple.”  And we also have decided to dress up the dog, so it’s really becoming quite the family affair.

Now you must realize I have nothing against the hipster look or culture and I think that it is all very unique, which is the point, right?  Also, the whole point of Halloween is to dress up like something that you are not and I certainly am not a hipster.  I’ve decided that I am definitely going to go with the distressed denim shorts and tights look, lots of layers, jewelry, and of course the wayfarer glasses.  Miguel (Mike is his real name, Miguel is his hipster name) is going with colored skinny jeans, keds, graphic tee, layers, and we are definitely doing matching glasses!

Now hopefully if we get it right, it will all look a little something like this…
